Answer

How does live printing work at an event?

A clear, no-fluff answer from the Merch Troop live printing crew.

Before doors open

We arrive roughly 90 minutes early to load in, set the tables, warm the presses, and stage garments and artwork. A station needs a modest footprint — about ten feet by ten — and two standard 20-amp circuits. We confirm power and load-in access with your venue ahead of time so there are no day-of surprises.

The flow, once it is live

Every station runs the same tidy loop. Guests pick a garment and design from a clear menu; an operator aligns the transfer and runs the heat while guests stay on the safe side of the table; the piece rests on a cool rack for a few seconds so the print sets; then a checked, finished piece is handed back. Keeping those four steps separate is what stops a crowd from bunching around the machine.

Keeping the line moving

Throughput is really about the queue, not just the machine. A single station makes 60 to 90 pieces an hour comfortably. When we expect heavier traffic we add operators or a second station so nobody waits long enough to wander off. We size the crew to your guest count during the quote.

How much space and power does a station need?

A single station fits in about a 10×10 footprint indoors or under a tent and runs cleanly on two standard 20-amp circuits. We confirm venue power and load-in access before the event.

How many pieces can you make per hour?

A single station comfortably produces 60 to 90 finished pieces per hour at an easy pace. Adding operators or stations raises that throughput to match your guest count.

How long does setup take?

Load-in and setup take about 90 minutes before doors, and teardown is similar. Those hours are included in your staffing quote, not billed as a surprise.
